Support Your Local Artists and Makers

Posted by Alison Lush on

I just can't wait until the shops and local venues open after lockdown.  I was just wondering the other day, how people will react when they do.  Will they be bursting out through their front door and storming the shops, or maybe being more cautious and carry on shopping on line.

I think it is going to be a bit of both.  As an artist and maker myself, it feels like I have lost a limb or half of my body as my creative business has, in the past, been about physically showing up in front of my lovely customers.  Chatting, getting to know them, sometimes becoming friends.

All my artist friends have been trying to pivot their businesses to online, but that takes time.  Having an event or a shop gives that instant connection with my customers and I can't wait to see them again.

I have always had an online jewellery store for as long as I can remember, but it really been as a backup to selling direct.  I have realised that I should have been spending more time getting my online presence more active.  I will definitely not rest on my laurels again.

So as much as I can't wait to get out and about (in a safe way), I am still working behind the scenes with my online shop and I am actually enjoying getting it.  You can check out my jewellery here or you can sign up to my mailing list and get all the new bits sent straight to you inbox.

Until I see you all again, take care.

p.s. the shop shown above is the fabulous Rock Paper Scissors in Canterbury.
